If you are reading this, it means that you found where I will be sharing my journey. I have been debating writing a blog for years now, but I never knew what to write about. I didn’t want it all to be about the pain I suffer from because that wouldn’t be healthy- but I also didn’t want to ignore that piece of who I am. So, you will be getting all of me. The good, the bad, the incredibly ugly–all of it. If you know me, then great you’ll get to know the real me. If not, welcome! This will be a short blog introducing myself and an overview of what this blog site will consist of. If you plan on occasionally reading my blogs, please read this little intro!
As you can read in my bio I am a 22 year old women learning how to live in this bizarre world with a pain condition. Along with having Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, I have to face all things people my age have to face. Dating, college, work, moving out, changes in style and personality, and so many other changes (especially with our mindset). Not only do we have these changes- we also have to figure out how to adult ALONE. Yes, that means going to our doctors appointments without our parents. Freakin hardest part if you ask me!-oh yeah- there will be cussing, I’m sure.
Of course I will include some advice of what I have experienced so far! I’m no expert in anything and I definitely don’t have my life all together, but I have learned a lot from things that have happened in my life (the good and bad). These blogs will serve as a journal for me to see how far I come as well as help anyone who feels alone. Trust me- if you are in the 18-22 age range, you will feel a connection to many things I say. And if you aren’t in that age range, I should have something that resonates with you!
The last thing I want to talk about is the title of my blog: “Explore Life”. When you read more about me and who I am, you will realize that in January 2021, I went to a semi-inpatient pain program in Baltimore, Maryland. So many changes were made in every part of my life while I was there. When I came home, I felt like a completely different person. I didn’t know much of what this “new” Alexis liked. What does she wear? What does she enjoy doing? Who is her type? Basically, I am having a freakin identity crisis at age 22. Isn’t that just lovely. So, I decided instead of fighting it and sticking with my status quo, I would explore life! That’s the only way to find what makes you truly happy-right?
So there you have it, this is my new official blog site. I am so excited to get started and take you along the journey with me!
Lots of love
